This, my first lamp design was made necessary by a happy accident.

I was picking stones out of our garden and disposing of them by tossing them in the fence row. Well, this one seemed a little heavy so I set it aside. Later I wanted to test a new diamond saw and picked up this "scrap rock".

Once I realized the beauty I knew I had to make a lamp to show off the garnets.

The panels were made by eopxying a 2mm piece of glass to the sawn face, advancing the feed screw and taking another slice if the "raison bread". The slices were flat lapped to make the panels.

My brother-in-law came up with the spreadsheet for computing the cutting angles for the prisms. After that it was all plain sailing.
