Canada Day 2003 - Introduction

On July 1, Laurel, Lorraine, John G., Myrna, and John N. created a party at our home while I was at work. Susan, Chris, Deborah, and Jay arrived a little later than I did. Lisa had to get the hint from our friends because I was too obtuse. I claimed that it's because I'm male, hence, not good at the hint bit.

Unfortunately, Lisa was in France just south of Paris for the party. These pictures are here to let her know that we are glad that she can pickup on hints.

What started out as a croquet game or two on Canada Day turned into a Romanian BBQ followed by Susan's "Romanian" banana cake. I didn't have to do anything other than other than come home from work (take a shower) and partake of the festivities.

I still had the digital camera from work so annoyed people by taking pictures. Here are the ones that turned out half decently.

There were fireworks at Canada Olympic Park, which is visible from our front yard. I mounted the camera on my tripod and tried to get some pictures. Some of them turned out. The ones with the reflection from the river are particularly nice. I only figured out how to do manual focus on the digital camera after I took the fireworks pictures. Many of them turned out to be very out-of-focus.

After the fireworks, I tried some of the waxing cresent moon. The relative motion of the earth and the moon is readily apparent in the sequence of images. That is the only reason there are so many of the moon.
