Ref: 2006_0388

A boreal chickadee arrived at our feeder about a month ago. It took it awhile to get used to feeders and people. I've only seen it use the nut feeder, whereas, the black-capped chickadees prefer the sunflower seed feeder.

This bird still doesn't hang around and pose like the black-capped chickadees, although is getting less flighty. I hope to get better pictures.

Boreal chickadees are rated as "should see" in the Calgary region for the whole year. Black-capped chickadees are rated as "hard to miss". This is the first one I've seen in Calgary, but I have done little birding in the coniferous forests of Calgary.

These images are also available in lossless PNG encoding at full resolution, just ask.
