Eric and Louise visited us at the end of August. One day, Eric asked me to help him get something out of their RV that he wanted to show me. When I saw that it was packaged against a piece of plywood, I thought that it might be their latest leaded glass project (Lisa and I have yet to visit them since they have built their studio). Well, it turned out to be a leaded glass project, but not one on which they were working. It is the window to the left.

It was only after unpacking it that Eric and Louise made it clear that this was a birthday gift for me! I was speechless. I had no inkling that this was happening, even though it took them about 2 years and a few phone calls with Lisa.

Eric explained how the project grew from the frog in the bottom - found in a design book, which reminded Eric that I like frogs, which prompted him to consult with Lisa, which lead to a bird being included, which resulted in many heron pictures being examined, which taught Eric and Louise how to convert a picture into a leaded glass design, which meant many days spent in glass shops finding the right colours and patterns of glass, which meant many more days spent cutting and grinding glass and fingernails, and yet more days fitting, coppering, and leading.

The result is spectacular! It hangs in our front hall in the window beside our front door.

Eric and Louise, Thank You!

We had some other animals visit us too. Birds and snakes were the two that held still long enough to be photographed.

Of course there were also flowers, wild, cultivated outdoors, and cultivated indoors.

Besides a caption, each picture has further description.

None of the pictures are large enough to make good 4x6 prints. If you want to print any of these, please send me the reference numbers (reference numbers at lower right of pictures or lower middle of toenails) of the pictures and I can send you (or put on the web) big enough ones for printing.
