John G. reading from the works of Shakespeare. I think this was one of the sonnets. I
looked up the bit about Titania sleeping with the nodding violet and eglantine. I couldn't
resist. Here it is; it is very evocative; I just want to go out and nap in the wildflowers by a
stream.
I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where ox-lips and the nodding violet grows;
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses, and with eglantine:
There sleeps Titania some time of the night
Lull'd in these flowers with dances and delight;
And there the snake throws her enamell'd skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in:
"ox-lips" is the greater cowslip,
which is a species in the Primula (Primrose) genus; Greater Cowslip is Primula
veris;
"eglantine" is the sweet-briar rose;
"weed" means dress
